This vintage microscope (marked with SPI - Swiss Precision Instruments) it a nice piece of scientific history! SPI's microscopes are valued for their compact structure, accurate and precise measurements, and high-resolution imaging. They focused largely on compact science and lab microscopes, like this one. Great for students, educational labs, and on the go science-lovers. Many of these exist, but the SPI branded ones, like this one, are pretty hard to find in this model.
Made in Japan (marked on its base), this piece is heavy and sure to stand the test of time. It has 3 magnification levels, with a rotating nosepiece/turret that handles 100x, 200x, and 300x. All moving parts move very well. It's heavy/sturdy and just a gorgeous piece in general. There is a small bit of rust on some of the connection hardware (shown in photos) but not much. The turret, also called the nosepiece, holds multiple objective lenses that can be rotated to change magnification.
